Host - Family & Parenting

Founded in 1994, Hearts at Home began as a small ministry to mothers at home in Central Illinois. After seeing a local support ministry to help mothers flourish in Bloomington, IL, eight women gathered to pray about the possibility of offering education and encouragement to mothers at home outside of their area. They thought maybe 500 women would attend, but 1,100 showed up - and they came from 10 different states!

Since that time, the Hearts at Home mailing list has grown to over 100,000 women who desire to become better educated and equipped for the profession of motherhood. Our office is flooded with phone calls of women wanting more information about resources such as our conferences, publications, and more.

Hook up with Jill

In 1993, Jill Savage shared her vision with several other women to bring encouragement to mothers at home. A former teacher, she had always enjoyed attending annual teacher conferences where she would receive new ideas, encouragement, and further education.

After realizing she would not be returning to the classroom, she began to wonder where those conferences were for women who decided to stay home to use their skills to nurture their families. She found none. After much prayer, God opened the doors for the first ever Hearts at Home conference.

"I had been reading any mothering book I could get my hands on," notes Jill. "I thought, Wouldn't it be great to bring this information to women in a conference setting? It would be a place where they could learn together. It would be an opportunity for women to meet some of their favorite authors, an opportunity to receive some education, and would provide a much needed break from responsibilities at home." Jill's husband, Mark, has played an important role in supporting Jill through the growth of this ministry.  Under the auspices of the Board of Directors, Jill serves as the Executive Director for Hearts at Home.

The Savage's have five children, with three of them still at home. Daughter Anne (23) is married and living in Northern Illinois with her husband, Matt. Evan (21) is pursuing the music business. Erica (17) is a junior in high school, Kolya (13) is a seventh grader and Austin (11) is in sixth grade.

Isn't it amazing what God can do when we step out in faith?
