Laurie has been married for 30 years to a funny and loving man who has shown great tolerance for countless pizza dinners and paper-covered counters when writing deadlines and college exams have loomed. (Laurie went back to college, and graduated this year: Hurray!) All this enhanced her status as a Professional Messy and she is grateful her hubby has continued to be a source of encouragement and support.  

They have three “children”: a son, currently training to become a Naval Flight Officer, a middle daughter in college studying to become an elementary school teacher, and a third daughter still at home, who is a sports nut.  All three have brought countless joyful moments as well as many learning experiences!

In addition to two of her own parenting books, formerly published with Tyndale House, Laurie has had to privilege of being published in eight additional books published with Multnomah, Zondervan, David C. Cook, and Health Communications, Inc.

She also has loved being part of the magazine industry for 21 years. This included six years as a contributing editor for Christian Parenting Today magazine, but also publication in 27 other magazines, including Parenting and Writer’s Digest. She also takes great pleasure in teaching aspiring writers through workshops.
